Papa Doc and Haiti as a nation

Francois Duvalier was no mentally unstable murderer.

Before him no dark skinned woman would be seen driving in Petion-Ville.

The officers in the military and those incharge.

Papa Doc comes along he changes all of that. The nation was held with strong representation and order through our FAd'H and police force the Ton-Ton Macoutes.

Macoutes killed some people and political advisaries, so did NYPD and the CIA. If a Macoute knows someone he'll hook them up with a job or pardon, same in America.

So yes Papa Doc was a dictator but I see him no different thatn the president of the USA who people suppot and vote for. The only difference is he didn't lie about it, but held his ground as a proud black man in the racist timesof 1950's and 1960's, where a brother could be lynched for staring at a white girls in the USA. So how rebellious it must have been for a racist white men to look at this strong black president.

So the historians lie and exaggerate Duvalier's name. Under Duvalier we had our security, the Perlige Dam, the Second National Highway, and the new cities Cite Simone, and Duvalier.

The captial was clean safe and beautiful.

We produced our own food lowering the cost of bread for the average man while giving him jobs. We made our own cemet also. The coubtry was a functioning nation.

When observing Papa Doc on an intellectual and academic level, we must shed personal feeings on how we benefited or were hurt by Papa Doc. It is for these reasons that I can see papa Doc as a visionary thathe was. Now on another topic I both agree and disagree with unknown's views on "revolutionary Haiti".

On one point I agree that now is the time that we must stop this revolution ever 2 seconds burning the nation to the ground.

We must do instead what we should have done after Baby Doc. Instead of do all of this democratic revolution in the government, all of this "down with Duvalier" we should have simply added to the infrastructure giving our 2 cents like any half- A$$ president, even with Haiti's economic standings at the time. From there we could start making improvments on the social structure and economy.

But all of these schsims Macoute/Lavalas is what messed us up. It is these type of schisms that continually messed us up. This refusal to put aside schsims and personal intrest for the common good of the nation.

On the other hand I think it is totally wrong to label Haiti as a nation of stupid savages unable to managae themselves decade after decade.

And to go further as to insult Boukman and the revolutionaries stating that they used some lousy callings to the loas to give birth to the nation of Haiti.

As a brother of Haitian decent I find it suprising that you are not able to comprehend the feelings and of the slaves an the true essences of the loas and their workings.

If we were living for materialistic gains than we would have stayed in slavery with the nice French roads and infrastructure of colonial Saint Dominuge.

But we sought for a higer state of being true harmon with one's self, the real important things in life, our personal freedom has chidren of this Earth.

I can decide anyday to work three jobs and buy a big cadillac.

But to get the true self of being and lebiration.

It depends on your priorities and the extent of your knowledge, in knowing that you will have to ork on true state of being and the true beauty of life is not that of the shiny car and nice cloths.

That is what we called down to the loas for. When drumming the sacered rhythm of the Vodou loas we ask for harmony in our life, which leads us to prosperity in all things.

True happiness within ones self. If we were to one day aqquire every one of our materilistic possesions which we desired we would still feel empty.

That is why we asked our sacered ancestors that night in Bois Caymen and before that many other times to help giveus the strenght to bring down the Frnch.

And we achieved it. So we could sit down on an old rocking chair straving, naked in a desolate area but still pump up our chest with extreme pride for we know when the white man told us to kneel we didn't, but instead killed him and took his stolen land. We have our self respect and peace of mind. Wealthier nations than us with better infrastructure can't say that. Jamaica, Bahamas, Greneda, Trinidad, Domincian Republic (we freed them).

Besides the Dominican all of the others are under the white even though they still have their supposedly independence with they got in the 50's and 60's. The crime of slavery hasn't been aveneged for them not even in the USA. But we are set with that. That is why we are able to let the time pass by while we sit on that chair some naked, other clothed, some in Armarni suits, still PROUD.

So now in this present day we can say "okay" and get off of that chair knowing that if we make two moves here and two moves there we can get our shirts and meal. No problem.

We can now reflect proudly on our revolution and say it's time to step up and development our nation strong ensuring health and education to all. Not hard we just need to get together and finsih the job. Our nation has enough recousre to work with. And so blessed Ayiti said she had achieved her true piece of mind and decide she wanted a house instead of an appartment and a new cadillac, for she new it would help her get by and be, near nessacar in these mordern times to surivive.

But her personal state of being # 1 priority always, which we have already.

Now in this present day we must work on that cadillac in order to get by.
