The price of inactivity

It is with sadness that I read that everytime it rains in Haiti people are afraid.

The accumulation of shabby houses by the ravines in Port-au-prince has created a situation where these citizens are bound to drown sooner or later.

What is the answer of the government and the Haitian people to such a catastrophic situation?

Nothing!
I believe it is time for the people to start taking care of our own problems.

If eight hundred thousand people ( one tenth of the estimated eight million people in the country) would vow to plant ten trees from now until the end of the year, we would have planted eight million trees in about three months.

Planting ten trees in three months is nothing.

Anybody can do it. If we repeat this process three to four times, we could plant about thirty to forty million trees, which I think is the minimum amount of trees Haiti need to get out of this situation.

Instead of mobilizing ourselves to confront this problem and avoid a potential catastrophe, we prefer to pray to God or wish that the white man is coming to help us out. One thing is sure: God is not coming on earth to plant trees for us.
We better start moving or, shall I say, start planting quick.

God bless
