official atttitude toward haitian diaspora
< Previous | Home | Next >
Dear President:
Please acknowledge my letter of May 15 2007 in which
I outlined the problem of a previaling attitude among both Haitian locals and some officals which is summarized in these terms " anything and everything that belongs to Diaspora or foreigners in Haiti is there to be stolen"
I cited an instance where my Haitian wife complained about stolen electric service and was told " for you
(Diaspora) there is a consequence to pay for trying to re-establish yourself in Haiti"
Since that letter, we have clearly identified the culprits who did the fourth (4th)burglery at our house in Haiti and issued a warrant for their arrest.
Four months later - nothing has happened no attempt by the PNH - to apprehend these individuals.
This is only one incident among numerous similar incidents that show how individual investment in Haiti is jeopardized.
Please read my open letter - it posted on Caribbean net news.
Sincerely
Eric Doerrer
