From a Chirsitian perspective, the Number 8 represent new creation, new birth, the believer, the Bride of Christ"

Eight: Jesus, New beginnings.

Seven is complete then the 8th is the new one. Seven days is the completed week the eight day is the new week. Jesus resurrected on the eight day (Sunday) of the week to reveal the New relationship with man. The Hebrew male children are circumcised the eight day for a new (old-covenant) relationship with God. The disciple Thomas didn't believe the first day of the Resurrection of Jesus but on the 8th day it was a new day for the new belief of Thomas in the resurrected Jesus.

So then it's no coincidence that Martelly is #8 as he signify a new breed of politician who actually care for the country who will lead a new beginning for Haiti.

A martelly presidency is the rebirth of Haiti.

Preval and a lot of People think that Aristide can derail this train of change, that Lavalas can't stop Martelly but growing up in Church they always se Sa BonDieu reserve pou ou Lavalas pa ka pote ale. So this saying could not be more true today, literally.
