Justin Mondesir says...

Linda,
Not exactly, US is facing serious financial problems.

Cutbacks will be all over the board.

Now is the time to reinvent and scale down, if not abandon all together.

This plan could be presented as a PILOT program, if it is successful, it will take roots.

The topic is: SHOULD FOREIGN AID BE PRIVATIZED?

Yes, if the money goes in the hand of private enterprises Haiti will have a better chance for education, houses, and food. I hope HAITI too will have a chance to make foreign aid money to use for the people in need. > >

My! my! my! This is the most confusing message that I ahve read in a very longtime perhaps the tittle doesn't fit the message. The question is "SHOULD FOREIGN AID BE PRIVATIZED?" Isn't true that anything that is privatized meaning the gover > >

Tiba, That was precisely the point. Take the foreign aid money away from the government and the NGO's assign it to private organizations to manage it and presumably generate MORE income from profits. > >

Brian, You're killing me, man! Don't you understand NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) mean these organizations are "PRIVATE?" That is why they are called NGOs. The Red Cross, USAID, etc. etc... are private organizations. > >

Tiba, yes, they are private but non-profit organizations. I don't think you understand the concept. Basically, the idea is to replace the standard non-profit organizations with full blown for profit organizations that is capable of producing PROFIT > >

Justin, perhaps it is best to think about how futile it is the to be discussing something that we all know will never happen. The bulk of this money is already in the hands of the NGOs; how exactly were you thinking that it can be taken away from the > >

All the aforementioned posts are precisely the reason that I say that America should dust off the archives of the OCCUPATION of Japan and Western Europe after WWII and do the same for Haiti! It is the ONLY way to end this NIGHTMARE! > >
