One can only punish one judicially if there were proper procedures.

In Jean Claude case, there is no outstanding warrant and judicial procedures that was renewed to keep up with in accordance with the law. i.e. complaints have to be renewed every 10 years to keep them current and applicable.

We, Haitians must follow the law even when the law is an inconvenience.

You are dead wrong! I lost count on how many people died in my family under the Duvalier's Regime.

among others you might recognize certain names like Andre Riober, Gerald Brisson, Richard Brisson, Adrien Henry, Charles Villedoin, They were my mother's cousins, their fathers were my grand-mother's brothers and first cousins.

This is just to name a few whom I think you might recognize the names, I had uncles and aunts who disappear in the middle of the night, never to come back: one in particular was in Arcachon, La tante Andree Dupont disappeared in the night after she put us up to bed singing a lullaby, "ti zwozo kote ou prale, mrin ap prale kay fiyette lalo, fyette lalo kon mange ti moune, si ou ale la mange ou tou"...

as she always do every night when we spend week-ends with her. In the morning when we (my sisters and myself) get to the breakfast table, the live-in babysitter told us to eat fast because our parents were on their way to pick us up. Don't you think, events like those would psychologically cicatrized a five year old for ever?

There were others from Jeremie, Port-au-Prince etc...Some members of my family will NEVER forget nor forgive the Duvaliers.

But personally, I believe firmly that we have to let go of DUVALIERISM, let the culture die, it is time that Duvalierism died and cut out from Haiti's social fabric.

One of the sure way to do it is to move forward and forget all about the Duvaliers.

Fighting the Duvaliers, particularly Jean Claude Duvalier will open up so many deep wounds and incite raw vengence.

Of course we will not stop there, we will continue with Aristide to "get" him to for all he has done wrong to Haiti and Haitians, and the blood-bath cycle spiraling into an ever ending saga.
Do you think, this is productive?

especially at the very eve of a presidential election and at the Beginning of a quake reparation and reconstruction.

We can kill both Jean Claude and Jean Bertrand today, but their deaths will not bring our loved ones back.
I believe to prevent further killings of our people, strict laws should be applied and observed by the Government and if they are not followed then are to suffer the consequences first by impeaching them right away, then be judged by our judicial system.

We have to cut ties with lawlessness from our elected officials.

They have to understand in no uncertain term that they are not above the law, and SHALL be prosecuted if need be right away.
In the names of all us who have lost loved ones through Duvalier-Aristide regime, LET IT GO, LET US START ANEW.
Let us take the money and time we were going to spend on them, Let use that money and free our courtrooms to prosecute kidnappers, rapists, murderers, and drug dealers instead.

In the names of the Haitian masses, LET IT GO, so we can have a reconstruction.

In the name of our Country, Haiti, LET IT GO, in order to move forward so that we can find solace though National closure.

Only then, we could start writing a new chapter in our National History.

JUST LET IT GO.
