Many elderly Haitians had mentioned that Francois Duvalier was not born in Haiti but in another Island in the Caribbean.

He was a physician who was treating people with polio - A disease that had killed lots of Haitians - in Haiti.

Because of his devotion and his success, the Haitian population was in love with him. They even went further by saying that he was a CIA agent sent to cure polio.

His wife and his children were born in Haiti; however, this might be the only family who went by this last name in Haiti.
