help for haiti

< Previous | Home | Next >

Good Day, Mr. President,
as I have heard via E-Mail from Port-au-Prince now there are new rules, saying up from now to stop the donations for haiti, even food, because this would destroy haitian ecenomy.

As lots of people here (Dominican Republic), we (Germans) are involved in a private helping group, doing donations with goods and money since 2 month's now. And we know for sure that all was well received in that camp we are working with. As well in Jacmel, where I beside am helping a family with very big problems. But helping in a matter that they will be able in future to do by themselves.

Our friend (travelling back from here to Port-au-Prince) informed us, that p.e. there are nearby 50 containers with donations, blocked at the boarder.

Furthermore, that the situation in Port-au-Prince now get's more criminal day by day. (you have heard about kidnapping from two helping people from Europe?) ARE YOU REALLY SURE THAT THIS N O W IS THE BEST MOMENT TO S T O P the help from outside?

For sure it should be the best in future that the haitian people are doing by their own, but s t e p b y s t e p.
Stopping now - I guess there will die a lot of the poorest.

pls let me know your opinion,
sincerly, Ute
