I am overwhelmed with all the stupidity on this site. I understand everyone has the privilege of free speech; but don't you guys carry it a little bit too far?

First - language in any country around the globe is a historical fact. Language is inherited like we Haitians inherited the "Haitian" language AND the French language.

There are many theories on how "Creole" was developed.

but there seems to be a common thread between Louisiana Creole, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Barts among others.

I don't understand this so-called new movement.

Please, educate me. I basically remember in the 70's when "Creole" was the new official language of Haiti.

"Creole" was the spoken language in school, governmental offices, media and relevant organizations.

As a kid, I was very enthusiastic about the formal books on grammar and syntax and vocabulary on Haitian Creole.

The next step we wanted to eliminate the word "Creole" He then spoke HAITIAN and then FRENCH was the academic and business language in Haiti.

Went back to Haiti in the mid 90s to a relative's funeral, to the frustration of everyone, I refused to speak French in the name of solidarity to the Haitian language.

Run that by me again?

We are having a new-new-Haitian language?

or is it a new Creole?

or is it a new Haitian Creole?

I am all confused.

Or is it the very same old story again.

When in doubt, blame the Whites, if this failed, blame the Mulattoes.

This is all too simple.

We are living in the 21st Century folks!! The whole world is intertwined as one. If one Country sneezes, all Countries feel it.Grow up!!, otherwise other nations will truly write you off!!.

We already have the reputation for having an extra chromosomes for troubles.

Second - Nobody said the Haitians were FRENCH.

Haiti IS an independent nation.

All that could be said is that Haiti is francophone,(French speaking) there is a difference.

HOWEVER, I do agree that Haitian should be spoken in Haiti without prejudice to education or social status.

Most countries with a colonial past always measured themselves up to the "Forefather":Even United States did not escape from this problem.

In general, to North Americans, British accent always sounds " prestigious".

Most knowledgeable people do know that in any given country, there is always the "schooled" official language, and then there is the everyday local language, even if the country is monolingual.

Bilingualism complicated the situation a bit more...

and Haiti is not any different.

Thea Haitian educational system did see many different styles since independence day albeit through the hands of non-local people.

Memorization left the platform and came back, this is nothing new. Something new for a change would have been new buildings with technology and good teachers with a vision and premise of a BRAND NEW HAITI.

NO BULLSHIT, NO KIDDING.

Rename Haiti Ayiti or whatever else will not change a thing.

I do know the real people (le gros peuple) do want change, they crave change.

But, of course, there are others who want chaotic political climate even if it is to the detriment of their own people.

I do understand political chaos is visceral, it is immediate personal relief.

BUT WHAT ABOUT TOMORROW?

above all, what about your potential children and grand-children?

WHAT ABOUT HAITI?

Can you think that far?

The real people are crying, they need food, shelter,.

Women and their children want to be safe and protected...

The foreign aid should go to them where it belongs.

Tents and food should not be sold to the public.THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! Foreign Aid should go to the needy and should be given FREELY.

The classic Haitian business families you guys kept referring to could not and should not control a Nation.

If you truly mean business call on all the so-called groups you kept referring to again.

come up with a plan - short term and long-term then petitioned your elected officials to get you what you want. After all, you have elected them and they work for you. Yes, including Rene Preval.

Demand reasonably better conditions.

Third - We could do business as usual - Do the machete justice - In the end- The people with money will leave as they have been doing, -- In the end the people who are truly suffering will get to you and I do hope they destroy you this time - The Real Haitians do NOT talk. They watched, they observed, they repressed a lot. But when they said: IT IS ENOUGH -- That will be your end.
Soon will not be soon enough.

You with your quasi historical facts, half-baked theories, self-served charlatans -- On the pretext of defending the people -- All the while you only want to help yourself -- You do not give a damn about Haiti and its people.

You who do not give the real people credit-- You who are stealing their identity in some form of false pride and self indulgence- You who are trying to create discord in the name of vodoism.

The real people know better.

You may not give them enough credit, they may not be educated but they are sure damn smart. They know, who is working with them, who is not.Pure bipartisanship is a thing of the past. RESULT that is what counts!!!.

This is I, Bernadette
