Mireille P. Geffrard,

It looks to me if you don't slow down you will blow a gasket.

Hold your horses for a minute.

First, I would ask myself do I really care, as a Haitian native, that I speak French or not?

Maybe when I was in Haiti running around "pat blanche" with mucus running down my nose, that I was giving a damn to French because I did not know any better.

Second, you keep mixing apples with oranges.

There is a big difference between Haitians speaking French and Haiti as a French country.

And I agree with you that Haiti is not a French country because French is not Haiti's native tongue or original language.

However, Haitians do speak French regardless of the percentage that do.

For example, those in New Orleans, Louisiana in the U.S.A. do speak Creole but Creole is not New Orleans native tongue.

They inherited Creole from us, Haitians, but the funny thing about it, New Orleans always participated in "Creole Conferences".

It is time that we, Haitians, stop wasting time fussing about everything especially things that will not benefit us and our country.

The French don't have a beef with Haiti over the language.

France has a beef with us because we ended their slave industry.
