I have followed this topic with you guys. And I hope it will more interesting as you respectfully interact to shine the light - the truth - on this issue.

You all make good points and seem to be willing to backup your opinions with references and sources.

Zack, I think all your arguments rely on US sources and perhaps only Miami sources.

The Haitian diaspora also include those currently in Canada, Switzerland, France, in Latin America and else where in the World.

They also greatly support Haiti.

And, I personally think they exceed in population and in contribution when compared with the diaspora in the US. In seems that you do not take them into account in your considerations.

Charles made a point by stating that no matter how much is sent to Haiti by the diaspora, nothing goes trough the Haitian Government and nothing seems to be channeled to the development of Haiti, but directly to personal friends and family members.

So, two things, therefore:
1) The Haitian Government can not be accountable for any amount that he did not receive directly;
2) The Haitian Diaspora (in the US, Canada, France and elsewhere) is not organizing effectively its own efforts therefore "se lave men, siye atè".

They have accomplished nothing effectively for Haiti.

Finally - may I add - ONLY President René Préval is legit and mandated to promote the interest of the national affairs of Haiti - supporting facts and references in the link below:

In other words, the diaspora - despite the amount of their contribution - is not legit to promote the interest of Haiti.

I think, to make their efforts more effective - the Haitian diaspora should:
- first organize themselves and
- second - use a legitimate channel to pass their contributions to the Haitian people

Otherwise, "tout sa y-ap fè, se lave men siye atè!"

(I wish you all (Zack, Linda & Charles) react o that.

Thanks.
