Zac, I would not tell you if I was Danticat, but this time I can honestly say that, "no I am not Danticat." I met her once, when she was invited to a college where I taught.

More importantly, Danticat is a novelist, I am a social scientist.

Therefore her work is beautiful fiction, mine is based on unpleasant research data and facts.

C.L.R. was not Haitian, he was from another island.

However, he wrote one of the best studies of Haiti before and during the revolution.

Trouillot is Haitian.

He takes up where C.L.R left of. Thomas Madiou was Haiti's top historian.

It is his book that we used to use in our schools.

Many Haitian schools now use this book published by this non-Haitian Haitian.
