Robert, when i lived in Florida i used to hear all kinds of stories from Haitians about mystical things that were going on in the Haitian community.
Being the sensible person that I am, there are things i heard i just kept them to myself because if you go around telling people about such things specially people who aren't Haitians they would think you're crazy.
In fact, that's one the reasons why my dad left Florida years ago. He said he didn't want to mingle with Haitians and he has consistently told me not associate myself with Haitians.
He would always say "pitit mwen Haitian ou wè la yo tout bète".
Certainly there's good and bad people in all societies.
But that's one of the reasons why a lot of Haitians will not live where there's a Haitian population.
In general when i meet somebody i give them the benefit of the doubt but I'm also very cautious.
I believe in education, science and intellectualism but i also believe there's more to voodoo than what meets the eye. My belief is we shouldn't be too naive to think that these things are urban legends or folklore.

My father use to say (before he died) that, "if Vodou has all that power, why are so many Haitians poor?" As I've said before Tiba, I am a true believer in God, but I don't believe in any man made religion--and that's what they all are...

Linda I've heard a lot people make the exact comment about voodoo. Personally, my view is different. From what I've heard from my grandmother and other elder Haitians, combine with black magic this thing is not all that benevolent or innocent. I

Voodoo is terrible, I am witness of what voodoo can do; you can be the most intellectual people in the world, voodoo might make you forget how to spell your name. Can't have a job, can't persue your dream, money flies in your hand like air in the

Hugues Sanon, I hope you are not smoking crack cocain, or any other brain impairment drugs. You said " as much as you hate God (Christianity) and yet you are afraid of Voodoo???..." Where and when did I ever say that I "hate" God? For your

Linda, I keep asking myself that same question your father was asking, till this day. You would think that all Haitians living in US would be rich if vood had such a power. But the reality is voodoo is used to do more wong than good. Also

Robert M. St Fleur, I say "Amen e Insiswatil" to that! According to a research that I've done on vood in order to right a 25-page graduate paper, it is said that most people who practice voodoo in New Orleans Louisiana, are from the upper clas

It's not only in Connecticut. For example in New York, specially Brooklyn/Long Island/Queens, they are all types. They formed charismatic prayer groups to recruit. These so-called leaders are involved in all types of activities. They are blood-thi
