NJHSA Celebrates the 205th Year Anniversary of the Haitian Flag

On Saturday, May 9, 2009, the New Jersey Haitian Student Association will celebrate the 205th year anniversary of the Haitian flag. The Haitian Flag Day Festival commemorating Haiti's independence will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 from 12-6pm at Elmwood Park located on 1 Oak Street in East Orange, New Jersey.

The third annual event entitled, Nou Se Espwa Peyi Nou, translated "We are the hope to the future" will fulfill the organizations goal of empowering Haitian and Non-Haitian members within the community.

Furthermore, it will strengthen cultural ties within the diverse communities by enhancing education, social and cultural knowledge concerning the Haitian culture.

We respectfully request the honor of your presence at this community building event that will foster a sense of pride and harmony within the Haitian Community and create a sense of belonging and brotherhood between the Haitian community and the other ethnic communities participating.
