The problem with Mumia A Jamal is not his overall analysis, but a failure to grasp the details in a very complex situation.
One of the details he did not grasp is that Aristide was originally backed by a majority of the old bourgeois class, who are very different from the new group of predominantly Arabs and Dominicans calling themselves Haitian bourgeois.
He also miss the details in what Aristide promised and what he actually delivered.
This is also not entirely his fault.
Many American political officials actually fail to really get what is going on in Haiti.
They want to help, but their lack of true understanding of the issues on the ground makes their actions dangerous to Haitian wellbeing.
It would be wiser if they simply kept out of Haitian affairs, but even an American in jail (Mumia's) seems to feel a need to put his two cents in the affairs of the Haitian people.
From his jail cell, Mumia has decided that he is wise enough to tell the Haitian people how they should feel or think.
American arrogance is endless.
Last year I met with Congress woman Corinne Brown.
I was surprised by how much she really wanted to help, but also by how that desire was engulfed in extensive ignorance of the problem.
This is typical of American involvement.
Their inability to grasp the full picture makes them vulnerable to all sorts of fake propaganda and false prophets.
Yet, they keep coming...
