Larry,

Welcome back! how did you find Haiti Thomas?

I hope Haiti Quisqueya is still at the same location (smile), it's a joke!

Well, I'd tell you that I applaud your effort to help our Haiti cherie.

However, some of the plans are very good and some are questionable.

For example, replanting breadfruit will take a life time before it become ready to harvest.

For those who don't know what breadfruit is, it's "veritab", pye veritab, in some other places in Haiti they call it "lam veritab."

Larry, my advice to you is to research about the crops that grow in that region because what grows well in Pignon does not necessarily will grow in Cerca la Source.

This is a big mistake a lot of people keep making.

They always want to copy projects from one part of the country trying to implement them in the other part of the country which most of the time, does not work. The soil in Haiti does not grow the same things/crops everywhere in the country.

This is not "one size fits all."

This is why it is imperative that you work with the local people in Cerca la Source to find out what crops that grow well in that region.

Also, you need to find crops that grow fast and in a short time fashion like: plantains, rice, corn, sugar can, tayo (malanga), name (yam), etc...

these are the crops that make up the core food supply of the Haitian people.

They are easy to find, cheap to buy, and they grow fast.

In regard to spirituality, it would be helpful, I think, if you would tell your friends in the state that NOT every single Haitians practice voodoo, and that Haiti is not like a mine field where people get blown up as soon as they put foot on Haiti's soil, and that Haitians are NOT dying of starvation like flies like we are led to believe by the media.

Emotionally as you could notice, despite the rampant poverty, Haitians are very well grounded, very upbeat, very in touch with reality, high self-esteem, and most importantly they do NOT commit suicide.

Suicide is 0% in Haiti.

A county like United States, which is the wealthiest and the most powerful on the planet, a country that provides the most opportunities to everyone to succeed in life, why is it it is the country with the highest suicide rate on the planet where emotional health instability is so rampant?
