Gold Found in Haiti!

< Previous | Home | Next >

Haiti has a huge territory laiden with gold in the north territory (Massif du Nord).

The territory is also attached to the Dominican Republic.

There are foreign mining companies that are exploring/retrieving the gold from the area. It is not only gold but zinc, copper, silver and possibly bauxite.

I do not know what kind of deal the Dominican Republic or Haiti has done with those companies.

However, since Haiti badly needs income to fix the infrastructure of the country; I hope that the Haitian government is smart enough to have the companies refine the natural resources on Haitian soil and employ Haitian workers.

Furthermore, I would hope that the Haitian government is smart enough to work out say a 50/50 split so that the Haitian government and its people can enjoy the profits from the excavations.

It is very well possible that the profits can solve half of Haiti's problems.

What kind of a deal do you think the Haitian government worked out with the foreign companies?

Do you think that the Haitian government is smart enough or enough guts to work out a 50/50 split to benefit the Haitian people?
