Gents, Let's be real here! No airline will invest that much
Focusing on Delta Airlines to Haiti - June 20th, Gents, Let's be real here! No airline will invest that much money into a country without assuring maturity of the flights as well as generating constant income and profit for a long period of time. i.e. American Airlines
With Delta flying into Haiti now, it increases competition and pushes American to lower their fares on the route.
Lower ticket price means, more people will travel to and from Haiti.
So the main question is, what's being done with all the taxes being collected by the airport authorities.
If I can remember, we pay ~$100 or more in taxes per person to travel to Haiti.
I clearly understand that the airline (AA) has to take its cut but what happens to the rest (whose pocket does it go into).
Taxes to the Dominican Republic on a round trip ticket from the US is about $90 plus a $10 tourist card (Expensive tax) but you can see that the tax money is being used to renovate the airport and building additional gates and runways.
