Congress VS The Police Affaire StFleurCasimir

< Previous | Home | Next >

I want to hear everyone comment on this issue.

No Personal Attacks, I want everyone to feel free to express their opinions.

I will outline a few points feel free to add more.

The power of congress is recognized by the Haitian Constitution.

Everyone has the right to a certain level of life, to insure his health, well being and that of his family, mainly to eat, to dress, to have a place to stay, to receive medical care when sick, have a job etc. This is in essence the Universal declaration of Human Rights.

This is the frame work on which we will base our debacle.

No one should have the right to hit another individual because of a traffic transgression.

As a result Senator Casimir and his colleagues had a resolution demanding the firing of the high ranking police officer.

If you are for the firing of the officer support your position.

If you are against the firing of the officer support your argument.

I jolibois believes that the high ranking police officer should be fired as well as all other officers who were with him, because of the simple fact that a traffic violation should not culminate into beating the law maker.

Law are meant to be broken, and this violation called for a ticket and a day in court.

In addition, a law maker in any country has certain priorities that a simple citizen does not have. If the police can assault a law maker that easy, the rest of the citizens of haiti would be killed if commiting a traffic violation.

One clear example of the power of congress, Aristide chauffeur during the coup d'etat of 1991 had an altercation with a senator in washington, even with the intervention of Aristide, they had given his chauffeur 24 hours to leave the US or else faced prison or deportation.

In any countries lawmakers are well respected so should they in Haiti, regardless of what the court decides.

I believe after all these examples the officers should be fired.

If you believe otherwise, make your case.
