In the 21st Century.

The Dominicans have have adopted a new slogan "Where there are two Haitians, kill one; where there are three Haitians, kill two," said leaders of the mobs that descended on the immigrants' camps, the Haitians here recalled.

"But always let one go so that he can run back to his country and tell them what happened."

In October 1937, Dominican dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina ordered the execution of the Haitian population living within the borderlands with Haiti.

The violence resulted in the killing of 17,000 to 35,000 Haitian civilians over a span of approximately five days,[1] which would later become known as the Parsley Massacre[1] due to the shibboleth which Trujillo had his soldiers apply to determine whether or not those living on the border were native Dominicans who spoke Spanish fluently.

The soldiers would hold up a sprig of parsley, ask "What is this?", and those who could not pronounce the word Spanish word perejil (which Haitians call pèsi) were assumed to be Haitian.
