When France refused to recognize Haiti's independence 200 years
In regards to nous parlons creole et francais pas anglais, When France refused to recognize Haiti's independence 200 years ago, Haiti was forced to pay its colonizer the equivalent of $22 billion in today's money, to be free.
Now Haiti wants that money back, and will not take NO for an answer.
In 1838, Haiti was forced to pay a ransom of 90 million gold francs to its French colonial masters to break the economic and diplomatic embargo that France had placed on the new republic after refusing to recognize its independence.
HAITI SHOULD NOT ONLY ASK FRANCE FOR ITS MONEY BACK BUT ALSO ASK THE DOMINICAN
REPUBLIC FOR HALF OF THE MONEY SINCE WHEN HAITI PAID FRANCE IT PAID FOR THE
ENTIRE ISLAND NOT JUST FOR THE WEST SIDE OF IT. NOW THAT THE DOMINICANS ARE
INDEPENDENT THEY SHOULD START REIMBURSING HAITI BACK FOR THE MONEY WE PAID FOR
THEM.
WE WANT OUR DAMN MONEY BACK AND WE WANT IT NOW.
FRANCE AND ST.DOMINGUE.
