Well, most of the brave souls who tried to bring change to Haiti in the past were killed.

Most other Haitians who had both social and educational formation fled Haiti; some under Duvalier, but most under Aristide.

Most of those people now have established lives elsewhere and see no reason to return to a country that doesn't even allow them the right to be Haitian.

The rest of those who stayed are those you see in Haiti now. One group, the new mulatto elite, are really business people who make their living in Haiti, but care nothing about the nation itself.

Their children are sent to school oversees, they import all the goods they need from other countries, they spend all the money they make in the Dominican Republic or Miami (you know the weddings, the big parties, the graduations, all done outside Haiti).

Most of them were low level business people who came into financial power under Aristide.

They are the first true openly racist Haitians in our history.

The other group of Haitians left in the country, are the dark skin Haitians, who make their money by getting and staying into the government.

Their only true reason for wanting to govern is that it is their way to three meals a day, and they get to feel important because they mix with international big shots.

These people are barely literate, they were brought up with very few of the social skills necessary to be able to mix with the elite governing bodies of other countries, and they are a permanent embarrassment to the nation.

Today, Haiti looks like other post colonial nations did after slavery.

A racially divided nation, governed by des gros souliers and financially run by a light skin class that's fundamentally racist.

200 years of a great heritage to be put back to were we never were by gutter rats like Aristide and Preval.

No, I don't think anyone can save it.
