You say that the Haitian diaspora need to invest in Haiti.

You are absolutely correct but the Haitian diaspora is already investing in Haiti at the rate of 2 billion dollars per year. The diaspora send money to their loved ones via remittances such as Western Union, CAM, Unitransfer, etc...

The solution to the economic problem of Haiti is in the hands of the diaspora.

No one can seem to see this but it is very clear to me that a percentage of the 2 billion dollars can be appropriated to cure the ills of the Haitian people.

In retrospect, 20% of the 2 billion can be appropriated (200 millions per year) to invest in the infrastructure of the country.

My idea is to target a particular location in Haiti to promote tourism.

Donating the money will not make any sense.

A return on investment would be better because the money can be used to help the rest of the country.

Tortuga island (Ile de la Tortue) would be such a perfect location.

The beaches are beautiful and the wind factor is perfect for kite surfing.

You may say that my ideas are radical but that is exactly what Haiti needs.

The country is facing terminal cancer.

You cannot put bandages on terminal cancer.

You have to go radical in order to have a chance for survival.

I have great respect for Wyclef Jean because he has a true love for his country.

I believe that Preval named him ambassador at large for Haiti.

Mr. Sanon, you are promoting the gala in honor of Wyclef which I believe you will be in attendance.

Perhaps, it would be a good idea to share this idea I presented of using a percentage of the remittances of the diaspora to help Haiti.

As a matter of fact, a lot of other people, including yourself, right here on this blog have presented valid SOLUTIONS for the ills of Haiti that I believe a person of the stature of Wyclef should be made aware of. He has access to President Preval and Preval should be aware that there are people on this blog that truly care about the future of Haiti.

And, yes they do have effective solutions for the country.

Asking the Haitian diaspora to help Haiti, in my opinion is a waste of time. They are not going to help. All they will do is complain and say that why should we give money when the money will be stolen.

In part, this is true, Haiti is plagued with corruption but they are ways to ensure that the money is not stolen.

The Preval administration need to go radical and appropriate the remittances from the diaspora.

When Tortuga will be a major tourist destination and the infrastruture of Haiti is being built, then the Haitian diaspora will be thankful for that move. Why, because they will be able to come back home and enjoy the country with their family and friends and will be proud of saying that they are from Haiti.

Please share these ideas with Wyclef during th gala :-).
