Rintintin, what we in the diaspora need is a leader; someone who can cross the line between the elite and the masses.
If he/she is too light, the Haitians who came from the lower social echelon will reject him/her. If he does not speak French (the way it should be spoken) the upper classes will reject him/her. It would have to be a very passionate individual, because the work would be intense and ongoing.
This individual would have to be a good orator who can convince people of various background to join his movement.
This individual would have to be able to form a coalition of people from different social sectors to help him with the movement.
The members of this coalition in turn would have to be trained on how to communicate and motivate the Haitian Diaspora.
These individuals would have to enlist the help of Haitian community leaders all over the US; to know how to do that they have to be well trained.
We could get grants for this type of community organizing, but it wont come from the regular sources of funding, as the regular people who provide money to Haiti would not want us to be doing this. There is a lot more that would need to be worked out. BUT THIS CAN BE DONE. AS I'VE SAID BEFORE, THE AYATOLLAH KHOMEINI OVERTHREW THE SHAH OF IRAN AND COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONIZE THE COUNTRY WHILE HE WAS STILL LIVING IN FRANCE.
HE DID IT BY SENDING VOICE CASSETTES THAT GUIDED THE PEOPLE.
If one individual can do that, why can't we Haitians get our #%&&* together.
