New kid on the block this is the question you should be asking yourself: Why is there so much trash in the streets of Haiti.
And I guarantee you brother forced labor is not the solution.
The mindset of forced labor rivals that of a slave owner.
It cannot exist in a free and democratic society.
The reason we have trash on every streets is because the government: Which inludes the ministry of interior affair, and the mayors are not doing their job. They need to set up a trash collection program.
Once they do that people will not throw their trash in the streets.
If they do throw their trash in the streets you make them pay a fine. But to do that trash must be collected on a weekly basis.
You might argue that the government cannot afford a program like this. Then here is a better idea, every city could create a volunteering program where young people and adults volunteer their time to clean up streets and collect garbage.
Once the trash is collected it would up the government to find a method of disposal.
In Broward county florida publc schools require high school students to do volunteer work before they graduate.
This is something I would support in Haiti.
