You are partly correct.
It is a problem of leadership.
But when President Preval said that he will come and march with the crowd to protest the high cost of food and when he said if you wanted change you should not have put me in this position; you can see that this man does not have control of the country.
It is good that many of you are writing blog posts.
This is good for communication.
However, most of you are missing the point.
Try to get this. Haiti is a protectorate! Not formally but informally.
Haiti is currently under the international community.
Whenever a country has been invaded.
Its president forced to resign, sent into exile and UN forces move in and stay for years, it is an informal protectorate.
At this particular point the Haitian Government has no real say in Haiti.
They are only an advisory group.
Furthermore, the Dominican Republic is a semi-colony of the United States.
Their "Guardia" army was trained by the U.S. and is being paid by the U.S.
Please read Stan Goff's artile on Haiti.
Take some time, educate yourselves, read the article and try to come up with solutions on how to stop people from eating dirt cookies.
In other words, try to find solutions to fix the infrastructure of Haiti, provide employment, education, healthcare, food, water, electricity, tourism, security, etc...
Try to find solutions to combat people that do not have Haiti in their best interest.
