Linda,

Please calm down before you blow a kasket!

I know you're responding to my post asking El Caribeno to proofread his messages before posting them on the blog.

First of all, I never accused him of not write perfect English.

Second of all, asking somebody to proofread his/her writing is NOT an insult, nor accusation of not writing perfect.

In college, all professors make it a litany telling their students to proofread their writings, their works before turning them in otherwise their will lose one point or 2 points, etc...according to your way of thinking, is that an insult to the students, or a criticism about their writings, or an accusation of not writing perfect English?

In college, the professors go even further by stressing to their students the need to ask a friend or somebody else to proofread their papers for them before they turn them in.

I understand you said, well, this is not college, this is a blog. And I agree.

However, it is the same concept.

There are some blog sites that suggest their bloggers to proofread their messages before posting them. Those sites provide spell check and everything else to their blogger.

This is one of a few blog site that is not providing an "Edit" option to its bloggers, but again, I realize this is a Haitian thing.

So Linda, I would ask you please to think about and understand the concept of a statement made by someone before jumping the gun. There is nothing wrong asking anyone to proofread his/her work before making it public.

It is not a criticism, it is not an insult, and it is absolutely NOT a put down.

People, but especially Haitians, get too over sensitive, too emotional, and take things too personally.
