Thank you for having explained that to them so perfectly clear.

The reason why Haitians are latinos is due to the fact that the region itself is called Latin America and Haiti is part of the Latin American Countries and it does not stop at the Border of Dominican Republic then jump to Puerto Rico or goes back to Cuba.

The region is called Latin America and indeed one could say that Haitians are Afro-Latinos much like you have Afro-American living in the United States.

Otherwise, White American could have easily said that blacks in America are not Americans if that was the case to justify one as to being American.

One says Afro fisrt to give credit that we are African Descent and after that you are of the region you are natively born into.

Indeed, we have North American which is The United States of America and believe it or not that includes Canada as part of North America because they are both touched.

Canada is not a Continent by itself, then we have South America which are obviously those South Latin American Countries like Brazil, Mexico and so forth.

Then we have Central Americas which is the whole Caribbeans which also called Latin-America and the West Indies.

Because when we have a Caribbean Festival, do you not see all the Caribbean Countries there? There is a difference with being Hispanic and Latino.

Being hispanic means being relatively a descendent of Spain or that territories Spain once occupied.

Being latino simply means to be part of the Latin Counties where latin derivatives are spoken.

Such as French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Creole which they call those languages the languages of romance.

Not as in Romantic, but rather of Latin Rome.

But Haitians think that if they call themselves Latinos that they are flattering those that are Hispanics or that they are ignoring their African Ancestry.

No. That is why we say AFRO-LATINOS or LATINO-AMERICANS.
