You are right.

Preval is basically doing the same thing that Duvalier did. He is accumulating power by decrees.

I am not a politician, but since he thinks that he has Uncle Sam in his corner, who is willing to provide him with protection as long as they are getting what they want, Preval will get what he wants.

But he does not hold all the cards: 1. His alcoholism is destroying his liver and he may soon die. 2.

One bullet can put a stop to all his machinations.

3. The Haitian people will soon realize that he cannot deliver and force him to move on .

The government of Haiti is taking the Diaspora for granted because they know no matter what happens the Diaspora will continue to send money to their families in Haiti.

The Diaspora pauses a treat to those who wish to maintain the status quo in Haiti and remain in office.

They wish to continue to get the necessary votes to stay in power from the uneducated masses.

The Haitian Diaspora are more educated and more capable than the locally bred populace.

Therefore, they are more capable of changing things for the better in Haiti.

That's the reason why you see all the 'little Chihuahua dogs' in the government barking, and posturing.

They are trying to keep the intelligent and educated ones off what they consider their turfs.

That's why they have been harrassing Senator Boulos.

They are thinking about themselves and not about their country and its people.

Government became their business and their survival strategy.

They are not successful at anything else.

Even Duvalier was a lousy doctor.

He took a course in the United States and failed it.
