Hey,you misunderstood me. I never praise (Duvalier or Soulouque); I never said they were great men. The fascinating part is the historical analysis not their characters and their actions.
I am a scientist and I am encouraging people to look at Haiti from scientific and historical perspective instead just pointing fingers and lay blame.
Every country has its elite (both intelletual and money).
That's not a problem.
The problem is people's lack of knowledge how the Haitian elite came about.
Is there a middleclass in Haiti? Or is it just shrinking or growing? How a country went from France's richest colony to the most impoverished nation on earth? We need to answer those questions so that the Haitian people can live in peace.
But in order to do that, we must face our own demons, we must get acquainted with intricate details of our own history, instruct ourselves how things got so bad, generate open discussions and maybe reach a historic peace plan of forgive-and-forget.
Aint no talk about killing fellow citizen or establishing dictorship ! This is social science my friend.
The revolution I am talking about is a revolution of ideas and ideals.
There was no revolution in Haiti after 1804; you are referring to insurrections, upheavals, seditions, coup d'etat, foreign interventions and civil wars for 200+ years.
That's not what you call revolution.
Obviously, you havent read my other posts.
I am not sure why some bloggers keep bringing this JBA into the picture.
When it comes to going back to Africa, you have no more right to the land than I do; I traced by ancestry in Haiti all the back to the 1840's. But if we mutually agree to return the land to the Taino Haiti native indians, and if you go back to wherever, I will glady find my way to Africa.
Haiti consists of two seperate but interlocking worlds.
1. 10-15%, mulatre, literate, french-speaking, townspeople, christian & agonistic, monagamous, prosperous, chauvinist, elite 2. 85-90% noir, illiterate, creole-speaking, rural, voodoo, polygamous, desperately poor, apathetic, populist.
Is there room for a middleclass? Can ever get a large middleclass?
welcome to the revolution
Thanks
