RE: French should not be official

Ralph,

I thing I understand somewhat the argument you're trying to make. From what you're trying to say and I agree, Creole is NOT a written language and until Creole becomes a written language, you want to have French as the language used in business, am I right?

Well, Ralph I don't know how long it's been since you left Haiti and how old you were either when yo left Haiti.

I don't know if you ever attended school in Haiti before you left, nor how much do you really know about Haiti.

Let me inform you, in case you did not know, that French has is and has always been the language used in business and legal/government business since the beginning of time.

Furthermore, French was the ONLY language you found in the classrooms in Haiti until a few years ago when the government required that Creole be part of teaching to 6th grade.

This measure was taken to stop the elite/bourgois class feels so superior to the masses and to the rest of the population who did not speak French.

Today, as we speak, French remains the ONLY language used in the classrooms for those in retho (baccalaureate 1) and philo (baccalaureate 2) in Haiti.

A few years ago the government has decided to make Creole part of the business and legal communies in Haiti, and make it a written language as well. Unfortunately, the written part of the Creole language is still remained a struggle for most Haitians.

In my opinion, the government has relied too much on the white man, who can barely speak and understand Creole, to come up with a conventional written rule for Creole instead of Haitians themselves.

This is why, as you mentioned, one word has many different spellings, for example: compa, konpa, kompa, conpa, we, wi, oui, woui, etc...

And yes, I agree with you that majority of Haitians seem to have a big beef with the French language and with the French people as well. This sentiment is raisonating not for NO reason.

Understand that Haitians and French do share some very bad memories, oppression, humiliation, etc...

and you cannot expect Haitians all of a sudden to forget all of that.

Personally, I am 500% advocating for Haiti's take over by France.

Haitians and the French already shared a history, culture, heritage, language, they understand each other, and therefore, a French take over I think would be very good for Haiti.

Understand that French is already and always has been "THE" official language in Haiti while Creole is the dominant language spoken by ALL Haitians.

English and Spanish are also widely spoken in Haiti.

Language is the least of Haiti's problems.

Incompetence and mediocrity are the 2 biggest problems of Haiti.
