Duvalier never got a coup d'etat because he had killed 19 officers who were trying to take over his palace.
Duvalier gathered the whole army, killed these officers in their face.
The whole army witnessed the feeling, the survivors were deadly scared of even thinking about a coup d'etat again.
Caya had a problem with Duvalier, instead of trying to fixe it, he took over a submarine, hit the sea with a dozen officers.
I was a little boy at that time, but I remembered the canoes'noise and there was an airplane trying to shoot over the submarine; it was very scary.
The noise is still living in my long term memory, it will never go away.
That was a strong impact for me as a little boy. I remembered myself hiding under my father's bed.
Once the Duvalier left Haiti in 1986, the army was no longer scared.
There was not a PAPA DOC who would line them up and kill them by dozens.
I would like you to remeber one after one everything the army has done after 1986:
