Shortly after 1.12th United Nations launched an emergency appeal for USD 562 from member nations.

Just about half of the money went for food. A revised appeal was sent in February to raise a total of USD 1.4 billion in order to continue the emergency- relief- work financing.

John Holmes U.N. Humanitarian Chief said that they have 49% of what they need for the whole year, but is asking to come forward with more resources to continue operation.

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) - The body responsible for coordinating economic and social work kof the U.N. funds programs and specialized agencies said they will be meeting next month to consider what else the U.N. can do to help with the reconstruction of Haiti.

THE HAITIAN GOVERNMENT has formulated THE NATIONAL PLAN for reconstruction.

On March 17h, During an interview of the U.N. body's work for the year ahead.

ECOSEC meeting is expected to provide guidance and maintain the momentum of international assistance to Haiti, following the donors'conference scheduled for March 31st at U.N. Headquarters in New York.

20 major donors were gathered in Santo Domingo on March 15th to evaluate how much contribution is needed towards Haiti's reconstruction.

The Donors were to hear and assessment reports from both the Haitian Government and an international inspection team. The donor countries regions are expected to present their conclusions at a Haiti reconstruction summit which will be on March 31st in New York.

Haitian Chamber of Commerce, President Reginald Bulos said that he told the Prime Minister and international financiers the losses for the private sectors alone total more than USD 2 billion.

Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive said the government's first and major challenge was to house more than 1 million now-homeless Haitians.

He also said that the quake also destroyed the Haitian government's finances, as a result the State was unable to pay many public employees. Mr. Bellerive asked for international donors, who for the most part donate money through NGO'S TO HELP THE GOVERNMENT DIRECTLY FINANCE ITSELF.

He said that he can only address about 20% of the government's needs now.

Representatives of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries expressed their desire on March 11th for the World Bank to alleviate debt levels and establish in the regions an assistance program for Haiti.

At the opening of the 15-member CARICOM summit, host Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said he hoped that the world Bank President Robert Zoellick would present measures to help the region in edentification of new and viable approaches to the treatment of economic affairs.

I believe that the Plan that the Haitian Government handed over to the United Nations should have been made public to everyone's awareness.

After March 31st, the result should made be public.
