Danimarie, I never meant Lydie Parent, but I have seen what she has done during her years in office, and as an objective observer, I can actually say that she is one of the few government officials under Preval who actually did work for her pay. You know an official is doing what's right for Haiti when the elites are all screaming about the reforms that that official is implementing.
I have heard them many times say that she is doing things that they don't want her to. As far as this rumor about the tents goes, it is not surprising that false rumors would circulate about someone like her. The elite and other officials will try anything to get her out of office--they hate that she's doing things that disrupts their corrupted lives.
Whenever one talks to these groups about Parent, their faces go from nice and relax to tight and hostile.
The first time I mentioned her name to one of my close friends, she almost bit my head-off. Its easy to see that they (the elite) hate her and will do anything to get her out of their hair. But, Parent is an equal opportunity offender.
She will do what's right for her district even if that means having everyone angry at her. She's done things that are good for the community that angered the poor too. I did analyze many of her decisions, and they all seem to have been good for the community as a whole.
She has guts, and I'm surprise she's still alive.
She is probably the only Haitian government official that I think it would be an honor to meet.
